FIFA denies that DR Congo's Mpasi was ineligible to play World Cup Football governing body FIFA has denied reports that Democratic Republic of Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi was ineligible to play before and during this year's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. "FIFA can confirm that there were no issues regarding eligibility during the Democratic Republic of the Congo's matches against Jamaica and the subsequent 2026 FIFA World Cup," FIFA told dpa on Wednesday.
